Global Anti-Corruption Day: A Message from CJL Co-Director Cheyanne Scharbatke-Church

On Global Anti-Corruption Day, Co-Director Cheyanne Scharbatke-Church shares a message from the Corruption, Justice and Legitimacy Program: 


“As a peacebuilding practitioner, I firmly believe that endemic corruption is the barrier that stops societies from transitioning from negative to positive peace. Societies with endemic corruption experience exacerbated inequality… It undermines the rule of law and a whole host of other negative consequences, locking societies into negative peace.


“On this Anti-Corruption Day, I hope people across the international community, regardless of their sector, pause for a moment and think carefully about how corruption might be undermining their results and stopping the sustainable change that they are seeking.”
