Diana Chigas and Cheyanne Scharbatke-Church discuss how conflict and corruption reinforce one another in a virtual event hosted by the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation.
On 18 February 2026, CJL Co-Directors Diana Chigas and Cheyanne Scharbatke-Church joined the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation for a Knowledge Against Violence discussion examining how conflict and corruption fuel one another. The conversation highlighted how political violence can create opportunities for corruption to expand, while entrenched corruption can undermine peace processes and contribute to renewed instability.
The discussion builds on their HFG Research and Policy in Brief, Fueling the Fires: How Corruption and Conflict Keep Each Other Burning, which makes the case for addressing these twin challenges to secure durable peace. Watch the webinar recording and read the full report to explore the implications for peacebuilding and anti-corruption policy and practice.
Besa Global thanks the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation for convening this important discussion.
